About the Tour
This tour covers a full Tibet discovery, including Golden cities (Lhasa, Gyantse, and Shigatse) and most attractive mountains (Mt. Everest). In this tour, you can appreciate the architectural art, the Buddhist culture, old history as well as natural beauty. This overland tour is more exciting crossing the high desert plateau, panoramic drives, visiting the cave, ancient monasteries and incredible view of Mt. Everest and much other Himalayan range. Day 1: Arrival in Lhasa
Upon your arrival in Lhasa, our guide will pick you up from the airport or railway station and escort you to the hotel by taxi. As the Tibetan area is located at high altitudes, we will leave the rest of the day free for you to get acclimated to the hotel.
Day 2: Lhasa
After having breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the grandiose Potala Palace, which is the essence of Tibetan ancient architecture and the treasure room of art in Tibet. Visitors who go around in it will amazingly find that the delicate frescos and embossments are covered on the walls in all palaces, corridors, and halls.
At noon, you will have lunch at a nearby restaurant at your own expense. Then we will continue our Lhasa to Kathmandu group tour package to the Jokhang Temple, the religious center of Tibetan area, enshrining the statue of Sakyamuni at age 12 since the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907). After getting out of the temple, we will go along the prosperous Barkhor Street to appreciate Tibetan-style handicrafts. At night, a welcome dinner awaits you at a local fancy restaurant for you to sample authentic Tibetan cuisines.
Day 3: Lhasa
Today we will set out for an excursion to the suburb area of Lhasa to explore two distinctive temples, Drepung Monastery, and Sera Monastery. After breakfast, our guide and driver will pick you up at the hotel lobby and escort you firstly to the Drepung Monastery, the largest monastery of Tibetan Buddhism in Tibet. It stands there with white rooms and scarlet halls leaning against the hillside for over 600 years. Our guide will accompany you to tour the temple and immerse in the rich religious atmosphere there.
After a self-paid lunch, this Kathmandu trip from Tibet continues to the Sera Monastery - one of the three most renowned temples in Lhasa. Not only can you admire a lot of rare scriptures, embossed thangka, and murals, the significant debate of Buddhist doctrines held during 15:00-17:00 is also a highlight of the temple; you would definitely be amazed by seeing monks doing debate in pairs in the Tibetan language along with body movements. Later, our guide will escort you back to the hotel in Lhasa for a good rest.
Day 4: Lhasa - Gyangtse - Shigatse (370km)
Today, this overland Tibet to Kathmandu tour extends to Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet. After breakfast, we will set out for a comfortable drive to the city. On the way, you can enjoy the Yamdrok-Tso Lake which looks like an azure ribbon falling in the arm of rolling mountains. You can also have a distant view of the Holy Mount Nyenchen Khangsar from the vehicle. We will stop by the Pelkor Monastery built in the early 15th century and take pictures of the Gyantse Kumbum as we pass by Gyangtse before noon.
At lunchtime, you may have a meal at a nearby restaurant at your own expense, according to our guide's advice. Then we will continue the journey to Shigatse and arrive in the city after 1.5 hours. Upon arrival, our guide will escort you to check into a local hotel.
Day 5: Shigatse - Lhatse - Everest Base Camp (5200m)
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we will transfer you to visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery, the largest temple in the city, and you can admire a bronze statue of Maitreya Buddha with a height of 26.2 meters (86 feet). Then we will set out for a 3 hours' drive to Lhatse Town and have lunch there at your own expense.
After lunch, continue our journey to the Everest Base Camp. En route, we will pass by the Tsola Pass with an altitude of 4,600 meters (15,091 feet) and Gyatsola Pass at an elevation of 5,248 meters (17,217 feet). After 4-6 hours' drive, we will arrive at the Everest Base Camp which lies at 5,200 meters (17,060 feet) above the sea level. It is the perfect place to get close to Mount Everest. If the weather is good, you will view the fabulous sunset of golden Everest Peak there. Our guide will help you check into a tent or Rongbuk Monastery Hostel.
Day 6: Everest Base Camp (E.B.C) - Gyirong Town
If the weather is fine today, our guide will accompany you to enjoy the magnificent sunrise scene over the Mt. Everest. Then please follow our guide to visiting the Rongbuk Monasterynestling in the arm of the towering peaks of Mt. Everest.
This afternoon, comfortable transportation will take you to Gyirong Town. Upon arrival, our guide will escort you to a local hotel and help you check-in.
Day 7: Exit China through Gyirong Border to Kathmandu. Our Service Ends at the Border
Today, you will leave China for Kathmandu through Gyirong Border. After having a hearty breakfast at the hotel, you will be picked up by our guide and driver at the hotel lobby and then transferred to the Gyirong Border. Then Nepalese driver will pick you up at the border and drive to Kathmandu city, to check-in your hotel for an overnight stay or fly drop at Kathmandu airport to catch flight for the home country.
