About the Tour

Poon Hill trek starts from Nayapul after one and a half-hour drive from Pokhara. This trek passes the beautiful villages of Ulleri, Ghorepani, and Ghandruk. You will enjoy the trek in the spectacular mountain scenery through delightful villages inhabited by Gurungs and Magars. Around every corner is an exciting glance of the high mountains, whole horizons of which will be open to you as you reach the high points of your trek. The viewpoint on Poonhill(3210m.) offers the best view of mountains and sunrise. As the sun touches the snow-capped summits, the Himalayan giants, Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna (8,091m) along with a maze of other peaks, slowly begin to appear, like magic, before our eyes. Anyone who loves nature and beautiful landscapes will never forget this astounding experience.

Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu
Arrive at the airport in Kathmandu and our executive will drive you to the hotel. Check into the hotel and relax for the day. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2:   Kathmandu Sightseeing
Explore Kathmandu in the morning where you will be taken to Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa and a few more attractions around and even witness Bhaktapur. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.

Day 3:   Kathmandu - Pokhara (1150m)    
Drive from Kathmandu to the trek start point in Pokhara with your guide. Walking along the ridgeline in the lower foothills of the Annapurna ranges will take you to the Modi River Valley, where your tonight’s lodge is situated. The unclimbed Machapuchare (Fishtail Mountain) will be seen from the lodge. You can choose to walk to the village of Birethanti after lunch or explore the surrounding river valley by yourself.

Note: There is a private trekking guide who will accompany you all the way.

Day 4:    Pokhara - Nayapul - Tikhedhunga (3-4 Hrs Walk, 1585m)    
After breakfast at your Pokhara hotel, your trek guide will pick you up and accompany you to Nayapul by a private car for about 1.5 hours. After arrival, trek about 1 hour to Birethanti, a large village where your lunch will be served. Cross the Bhurjung Khola river and proceed with a 1.5 hrs’ steep climb to Hille. Following the trail, you will easily arrive at Tikhedhunga for an overnight stay in the lodge. Overnight: Simple lodge/tea house.

Note: There is a private trekking guide who will accompany you all the way.

Day 5:    Tikhedhunga - Ghorepani (5-6 Hrs Walk, 2865m)  
Have a light breakfast in the early morning, and then pass the Burundi Stream to get to Ulleri, where you can have a close and spectacular view of Annapurna South and Machhapuchare, also called the Fishtail Mountain. After lunch at Naya Thanti, climb along the trail and go through the rhododendron forest to reach Ghorepani. Overnight: Simple lodge/tea house.

Day 6:    Ghorepani - Tadapani (6-7 Hrs Walk, 2712m)   
An early morning excursion will lead you to Poonhill (3210m), where you will witness the amazing views of Annapurna ranges with snow-white peaks. Poonhill offers an awe-inspiring panorama of the Himalayas, particularly the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Massif, including the sacred Machhapuchare at close quarters, where you can sit down listening to your inner voice.

After that, hike back to Ghorepani and depart for Tadapani. You might feel at ease for the whole journey on the ridge top. Stay overnight at a local inn in a small village near Tadapani. Overnight: Simple lodge/tea house.

Day 7:    Tadapani - Ghandrung (5-6 Hrs Walk, 1950m)   
Today, you will descend along the trail with scattered villages around. Make a stop en route for lunch. Continue trekking down to reach Ghandrung, a fairly large habitation of Gurung people. From this featured village, you can appreciate the beautiful views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. Stay overnight at the lodge at Ghandrung. Overnight: Simple lodge/tea house.

Day 8:     Ghandrung - Nayapul - Pokhara (4-5 Hrs Walk, 827m)   
This is the last day of your trekking journey. After breakfast, head down to Sauli Bazar for about 3 hours. During this, you will pass through some mountain villages and paddy fields. From Saudi Bazar, take an easier walk for 1.5 hours to Mayapur. Upon arrival, enjoy another 1.5 hours' drive back to Pokhara with your trekking guide. The rest of the day is at your leisure. You may go for a stroll around Phewa Lake.

Day 9:     Drive Pokhara – Kathmandu
Today check-out from the hotel and straight drive back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival check-in, hotel and rest dat free at leisure or to explore local shopping markets. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 10:    Departure Transfer
Today, you will be transferred to Kathmandu airport to board a flight for the home country.

  • All transfers and excursions will be covered by the non-air-conditioned vehicle.

  • Expenses of personal nature like liquor, laundry, tips, telephone, fax, internet, etc.
  • And anything not mentioned in Inclusions.
